時期	1月中旬～2月下旬頃（1月～2月頃（2024～2025年のシーズンは12月下旬～3月上旬まで見られました。2023～2024年と2022～2023年のシーズンは12月下旬～2/20頃まで、2021～2022年は12月下旬～3月上旬まで、2020～2021年は1月初旬に始まり1/20頃見頃でした。2019～2020年は暖冬で1月中旬と2/6に一部凍結のみ）ライトアップは1月上中旬～2月下旬（2025年は1/7～3/1、2024年は1/16～2/21でした）17時半～21時半） 2025年度：未出現

ピーク時の白川氷柱群（三岳観光協会提供）

最低気温が－10℃～－20℃にもなる真冬、木曽御嶽山麓の西野川右岸の崖の上や壁面から流れ出す地下水が凍り、幅約250m、高さ50mの大氷柱ができます。青白い氷が氷河のような自然の造形美を見せてくれ、壮観です。日没後の夜6時～10時はライトアップもされます。寒さが続いた日ほど見事に凍ります。

近年の温暖化で、凍る期間や規模が減る傾向にあり、「氷のカーテン」にならず氷柱の裏側の土が見える時もありますが、それでも寒さがピーク時になる1月後半～2月前半にはある程度のスケールで見られます。

3. Snow Monkey Park🐵 (Jigokudani Yaen Koen)

You can see monkeys bathing in the hot springs! I especially recommend visiting in winter!

Hot spring area near snow money park! There are hot spring towns and outdoor baths where you can feel the old-fashioned atmosphere, and it is famous for being the spot for the Ghibli movie "Spirited Away"!

7. Shirakawa Ice Pillars #白川氷柱群
Its maximum size is 250m in width and 50m in height. The icicles that only appear during the bitterly cold winter are spectacular.❄️

8. Narai -Juku #奈良井宿
The townscape has been selected as a nationally important preservation district for groups of traditional buildings, and retains a strong vestige of the past, and the approximately 1km-long townscape that stretches along the Narai River is the longest post station in Japan.

It is a national treasure castle! There are only five castles in Japan that have been designated as national treasures. Matsumoto Castle is one of them.
